Alanna moved about the large dining hall at Mastiff smiling at the revilers that her former squire and his friends were being. She could see Kel and Raoul standing side by side speaking knocking shoulders together so often and a small blush would flair up on Raoul’s face every time it would happen.
Grinning wickedly at the two of them, Alanna thought they should just get a room and deal with their issue.
“LIONESS! MY LOVING BURTALE KNIGHTMISSTRESS!” Neal yelled across the room as he loped crossed it as well.
“Queenscove I thought I taught you to keep your tones down during the four years you were with me?” Alanna asked laughing under her breath.
“Nope,” Neal said popping the P and throwing his arm around Alanna’s shoulder.
“Get off of me you brute,” Alanna said shoving Neal who stumbled away laughing, “go annoy your new wife.”
“But Lioness I want to annoy you,” Neal said batting his eyelashes Alanna’s way.
“You married, I married, and I have my own husband to annoy and him to annoy me.” Alanna said relishing that Neal was quite drunk and grinned again.
“Oh but you get such a color about your cheeks, like the first blooming flower of spring, it bursts forth in such a lovely shade after the dull tones of winter, to clash with your flaming hair but in such a way that it no longer clashes but complements each color well. Oh to see you blush is like a dying man’s journey through the desert and finding water.” Neal says kneeling in front of Alanna with a player’s over dramatic pose.
“Oh squire of mine I thought I had beet the dramaticness from your hide in the tilting yard.” Alanna said getting silly.
“Never,” Neal giggled and fell on his behind. Making his friends laugh at the undignified pile Neal made on the floor.
“Come on Neal let’s get you to bed,” Kel said pushing through the ring of wasted knights.
“I’ll help you Kel,” Alanna said gripping his left arm as Kel took his left.
“Oh Lioness I have so much to tell you,” Neal said as the two Lady Knights dragged him from the room.
“Oh like what Queenscove?” Alanna said catching Kel’s eye and rolled her own.
“I wish you could have taken Kel as your squire, I wish you didn’t have a husband, I wish I could be your husband,” Neal rattled off making Kel almost drop Neal down the stairs.
“Queenscove you’ve had way too much ale,” Alanna said with a little laugh.
“No, I haven’t, I love you Lioness,” Neal said as Alanna had Kel hold up Neal as she opened the door to his room. Sighing gratefully that Neal’s wife wasn’t there and the two women tossed him on his bed.
“Sure you do Queenscove, time to sleep,” Alanna said using just a drop of her magic to put Neal under.
“But I don’t wanna,” Neal slurred dropping off.
Alanna put a finger to her lips and back out of the room with Kel.
“Well that was interesting,” Alanna said with a grin.
“I think he meant it, Lady Alanna,” Kel whispered.
“Neal is in love with love, he is head over heels for his bride, and he just enjoys his crushes. He had a crush on Aly for a time. You on the other hand should be with Raoul,” Alanna said.
“He’s married,” Kel gasped.
“So is Thayet, but she and Buir still meet from time to time.” Alanna said looking into the brightly lit hall.
“What?” Kel squawked.
“Remind me to tell you a story about the early days of Jonathan’s reign.” Alanna said with a smirk.
“I’m off Lady Alanna,” Kel said with a wave.
“GET A ROOM!” Alanna yelled at the other lady knight with a cackle and went to find her own bed for the night knowing she was getting too old to keep up with the whipper snappers.
