Title: Why the Leaves Change
Rating: PG
Word Count: 100
Summary: A young Alanna wonders why the leaves change in the fall.
Why the Leaves Change
“Why do the leaves change in the fall?” Alanna called down to Coram from her perch in an oak laden with orange and autumn red leaves. She was a curious child who always had questions Coram couldn’t answer.
“I don’t rightly know.” Coram shrugged. He had never wondered such a thing any more than he had contemplated why the sky was blue. “Don’t reckon it matters neither.”
“Because they’re rotting and dying,” chirped Thom matter-of-factly from the branch beside Alanna without glancing up from the book he was reading. Like his sire, his nose was forever buried in some tome.

Haha, of course Coram wouldn’t care, and Thom would!

Thank you so much for commenting! I can't exactly blame Coram for not caring because sometimes the endless stream of questions from kids can make it hard to care, haha. All that curiosity can be tiring for the poor caregiver from time to time. And I bet Alanna and Thom are a handful for Coram and Maude. Of course I also couldn't resist making Thom a know-it-all always eager to show off how much he knows about everything from all his book reading. Nor could I resist having that sort of irritate Coram.

I bet! I’d be exactly like Coram - “Oh, who cares, as long as we’re all fed and happy and have a roof over our heads?”

Yep. I am totally an "I don't know. That's what Google is for" type person in response to the incessant questions of little kids.
