This month’s Malorie’s Peak Prompt #141 is Dance.
Are your characters dancing with disaster, or prancing for joy? Are they the life and soul of the Lightsbridge welcome bash, or hiding behind Lady Cythera’s curtains with their nose in a book? Have they had too much ale at the Dancing Dove, and decided to take up tabletop tap (or just skipped the ale altogether and gone straight for the horizontal tango)?
Do they trip over their own two feet or, like Pasco and Yazmín, embrace the footloose and fancy-free lifestyle? Could this be the dance they meet their new best friend or the love of their life — or are they just looking forward to taking off their shoes after a long night of getting lost in the beat?
Oh, and you don’t have to stick to Tortall and Emelan, or to the here and now. Take us abroad - what do the shamans in Qidao do? Are there Trader dances? How about traditional Kyprish, Saren, Yamani, Carthaki or Bazhir dances? Describe a performance in Khapik, or a dance troupe rehearsing. Or go modern and bring disco, swing, jazz, samba, belly dance, Bollywood or the Wii Fit to Tammy’s characters. If you want to get really creative, write an in-universe history of dance or a story of dance in ancient times.

I really love this prompt. It seems like a wonderful opportunity to explore the diversity of the Emelan and Tortallan universes!
