I really like this one. That Sandry sees herself as saving herself for herself rather than saving herself for marriage because sometimes the idea that a woman is saving herself for marriage gets placed on a woman who is actually not interested in sexual relationships at all. I think it is one of the manifestations of patriarchy: the assumption that all women want to get married and so a woman can only be saving herself for marriage rather than just saving herself for herself as it were because that is her choice and who she is. I'm probably explaining myself badly, but I love what Sandry says in this story!

Thanks Devils! I got what you meant ☺ For me, I think it comes down to that annoying intersection between the patriarchy and heteronormativity. An ace person might not even view it as "saving themselves" (because they might just have a genuine lack of interest), but here I thought Sandry would use the language she thought would be simplest for other people to understand.
