As a warm up exercise for our upcoming event, what are some canon errors you've noticed? The one I have most fun with is the squire swap - Raoul, Gary, and Alex all trade off squires during ITHOTG. I believe Lisa corrected Kel's Missing Year during Squire. I'd like to know how Roger was able to get a squire despite not being a trained knight - was it because he's a peer of the realm? Did he Jafar Roald into making him think he had a knighthood?

The squire swap is funny. Don't think I've ever written a story inspired by it, but perhaps for this upcoming event, I will.
Roger being able to have a squire despite not being a trained knight could mean he manipulated Roald with magic or maybe even that he was a knight since it kind of would make sense if the heir to the throne as Roger was for many years I believe was trained as a knight. I could see either one of those making a good basis for a story.
Another little error I remember from the first SOTL book is that Alanna is supposed to be the only page going to the desert with Lord Martin, Sir Myles, and the squires, but at one point, Geoffrey is described as being in Persopolis for Jon to nod to so he must have materialized in the desert somehow.
Oh, and I think Faleron appears out of nowhere to lean on his saddle horn during the rescue mission in Lady Knight even though he is supposed to be patrolling the coast.

Alanna says Roger wasn't trained as a knight in ITHOTG.
Is it official that Roger was ever heir to the throne? There's potential for his father to have passed away after Jonathan's birth, after all, but in any event Roger doesn't appear to be eleven years older than Jon, so would have fallen down the line of succession before he was old enough to start page training.

I'm not sure about Roger's age to be honest. The Tamora Pierce wiki puts Roger's birth year at 401 HE and Jon's as 416 HE and links to a Tammy interview from 2009 but that's probably more quasicanon than official canon.
At any rate, Roger's past is quite mysterious, but maybe that is how he wants it...

It says he’s 15 years older but he only seems 5 or so years older? Or is that just me?
