Emelan has a bigger ensemble cast that carries over between series, but there are still lots of wonderful minor characters. Gush about your favourites and spread the love here!

Oh, yay, a chance to celebrate some of my favorite minor characters. Pardon me while I ramble Dedicate Gorse: I love the way he runs the Winding Circle kitchens and slips Briar snacks and treats. He just seems like a gentle, generous soul and the state of his stained and scorched robes is totally relatable to me. Kirel He's a likable fellow and his tinge of jealousy over Daja's innate gift with fire and metal is sympathetic to me. Yarrun Firetamer I found the fact that he was an academic mage who sort of bore a grudge over the natural gifts of others when he had to work so hard and still not be their equal very interesting. He seemed like a complex character. Polyam As someone who has a disability (though not a physical one), it was empowering for me to see a complex character who lived with a disability. Representation for those with disabilities matters. Ishabal LadyhammerShe is a cunning character who I think knows how to tempt Tris to remain in Namorn.

Devil has named all my faves, but I’d like to add Keth (resonated really hard this time around, also bc representation of disabilities is important), and the Bancanors (a great sibling relationship, and also a wonderful family, plus points for representation). And Vedris, for being a good guardian and a brilliant duke.
Pasco really grew on me this reread: he’s such a dynamic character and I wish more had been done with Magic Steps.

I was going to mention Keth and Duke Vedris, but I wasn't sure if they counted as minor characters. I love them too. I am really wishing for stories exploring the Circle's students besides Evvy after the events of The Circle Opens quartet.

Vedris actually does appear a fair bit in Magic Steps, but I’d still count him as a minor character (tertiary character might be more appropriate). Also love Yazmin.

I did like Pasco and Keth as well, mistrali. I thought Keth had an interesting dynamic with Tris because he was actually an adult when she trained him, so the fact that she was still a relatively young person taking on a mentor role could be explored more than it was in the other Circle Opens books, which I appreciated. I also found Pasco to be an energetic character and wish we had gotten to see more of him after Magic Steps. Yazmin is a cool character as well.

Haha, apparently we all need to start a Keth fan club, because he is one of my favourites too! I love both the exploration of how he has to relearn and restructure his life after the accident, and how much he genuinely cares for Yali and Glaki and wants to do the right thing.

Hard same. I know at one point Tammy mentioned writing about Pasco and ghosts in the attic, but I doubt anything will come of it. She still hasn't written the Tris-at-Lightsbridge story, and I think that idea was first tossed out around the time of Goldenlake's first Smackdown, in 2010.
Pasco is my favorite (though I don't know if he's minor, since he's a protagonist?), and I also adore Gorse, Crane, and Polyam.

Magic Steps isn’t my favourite of the CO books, but I found Pasco very endearing and want more stories about him. I’m not so sure about ghosts in the Emelan-verse, but we know people (Antonou, Traders, that Honoured Dedicate from Stone Circle) believe in them.
@lisa, I believe Tris at Lightsbridge is going to be written, but there was an issue with Scholastic.
