Cinemas are still closed in lots of places, and book tours have been cancelled, but thanks to streaming services and online bookstores, we can still access new content! I am super excited about the new Baby-Sitters Club TV show coming to Netflix on 3 July. It's a modern version with more diversity in the main club members, who also actually look like they're about 13! Look at the perfect casting choices here: www.themarysue.com/baby-sitters-club-casting-news/I highly recommend looking up the trailer if you are in any way a current or former fan of the BSC. It seems like a focus of the new eps will be Kristy's mom's relationship with Watson. In other reasons to check it out, Kristy's mom is played by Alicia Silverstone! What's got everyone else excited?

Yes, this Friday will be very exciting with both BSC and Hamilton!
A celebrity fan-made lockdown version of The Princess Bride is currently playing on the new mobile streaming app Quibi. I've seen some of the clips from it through a Vanity Fair article and some were good and some were okay. Now trying to work out how to see the rest since the app isn't compatible with my phone...

Hamilton was ridiculously fun - it was great to see it with the original cast, and see all the things I missed from my very high seat! The National Theatre over here has been showing a few plays, and I've watched Twelfth Night (which I also saw in person, such a fabulous interpretation), Small Island (which I was supposed to see in October and has now obviously been postponed), and A Midsummer Night's Dream (which I discussed going to see with my friend, and I cannot believe we never got around to booking tickets, it was so ridiculously good). I actually enjoyed the Eurovision film - Kypriotha, have you seen it? It appears to say that the UK won the previous year, which everyone is saying is so impossible that they think Australia actually won and nominated the UK in their place

I am MADLY in love with this Baby-Sitters Club adaptation, for the record. It was modernized really well, and character/timelines changes were made deliberately to give a better story.
LOL, as soon as I saw that the Edinburgh was the host I had a "REALLY?!" moment at the UK's expense. I wasn't sure what to think going into the film, but I like that Will Ferrell did it out of love of Eurovision.

London also has much too big an ego to let anywhere else host it, so there's that. But at least we got Graham Norton out of it. I liked that too! I think I saw his wife's Swedish, which had an influence?

No, I haven't seen the Eurovision film yet because I was worried it was going to be mean-spirited, but if Rosie and Lisa liked it, I'll give it a go. And I'll try to be open minded, though the UK winning seems like excessive poetic licence ๐ I am only 5 episodes in with the BSC adaptation, but I'm also in love and trying to work out how I can throw money/attention/reviews at it to make sure they make more seasons.

And I'll try to be open minded, though the UK winning seems like excessive poetic licence ๐ Oh, boo you, we could easily win if we didn't openly aggravate everyone else in Europe. Fully expecting another nil points on Eurovision's return. It's definitely not mean-spirited - a little long-winded, but as soon as it gets to the Eurovision stage, it's charmingly wacky. I have a long-standing dislike for Dan Stevens (it's not entirely warranted and probably largely the fault of Julian Fellowes and Hugh Bonneville), but he really steals the show. There are a couple of wait, no! moments, but nothing overly heinous.

Okay, that sounds promising, so I'll give it a go! I'm sure it won't be as funny as the Eurovision musical, Eurobeat, that I saw years ago, but then, nothing is! (Except maybe The Play That Goes Wrong...)
Yeah, sorry, I think Brexit pretty much guarantees that...

I'd be hard pressed to find something I enjoyed so whole-heartedly as The Play that Goes Wrong! That was just the most delightful show.

Ahhh, The Play that Goes Wrong is so delightful. At one point my spouse was ready to lie down in the aisle of the theatre because he was laughing so hard he couldn't breathe.

Because I have been so completely fortuitous to see The Play That Goes Wrong live twice plus Peter Pan Goes Wrong, I feel like my enjoyment of them has been increased because I then knew what to expect at the start and could engage more with the "crew". My dad got made to hold some cabling they tried running up the theatre and we got Trevor to yell at my friend's dad after we told him (Trevor) that he (the dad) might have a drill.
Also, I gave Rosie a running commentary of the start of The Play number 2, so it was kind of like seeing it with her again ๐
Haven't watched Hamilton or Eurovision yet because I've started a re-watch of BSC because it's perfect and I love it so much (except maybe the camp eps, I can take or leave them). But the current plan is to watch Hamilton on Friday and maybe Eurovision on Sunday?

So very in love with Hamilton! As an Aussie I had to do a bit of research afterwards, since American History is not taught here, and I definitely need to watch it again, but it was brilliant!
However, can we talk about the disaster that was Artemis Fowl?

Baby-Sitters Club has been given a second season, so hopefully we get that soon!
I also recently watched the Shadow and Bone series, purely for The Crows characters, and I hope that keeps going so that we get the Six of Crows plot.

Kypriotha I watched some of Shadow and Bone but ultimately ended up getting distracted. However I am here for anything Ben Barnes related so Iโm definitely going to watch the rest at some point. Just discovered New Amsterdam on Netflix which I loved. Season 3 gave really good insight to the Pandemic in a place much more affected than where I am.

I've been hearing more about The Suicide Squad (basically a redux of the first Suicide Squad movie, if you're not familiar) recently since that's being released on streaming soon, and I could not possibly be more hype. It sounds like everything the first one should have been, as well as everything I wished Birds of Prey was that it didn't quite live up to. I don't think I've been this excited for a film since, geez, back when Harry Potters were still coming out.

I recently found out that Garth Nix has a new Old Kingdom (Abhorsen) book out! It's a prequel, so I'm tentatively excited to read it. It's titled Terciel and Elinor. There's also the latest in John Flanagan's Royal Ranger series out, Escape from Falaise. Now to wait for my library to get them in...
