Renunciation
Mequen had to eternally renounce his allegiance to Carthak but it was worth it to inherit the crown his mother had always felt but never said should have been hers.

I like this idea that Mequen inherits the throne! It’s kind of bittersweet for me, honestly. Thank you so much for commenting! I'm glad that you like the idea of Mequen inheriting the throne since it does allow Dove to be an unmarried queen I can imagine in the mold of a Queen Elizabeth and for Sarai to see her son have a crown that might have been hers, but I absolutely agree there is a bittersweet aspect to it. For Mequen, he would have to give up his allegiance to Carthak, for Dove it means she never had a child of her own, and for Sarai it is a reminder of that throne she never had but maybe could have.
