Congrats MythicMistress! I just started my first job out of college so I'm right there with you. It's pretty exhausting!

Congrats on the job Tamari! hope its going well. As you start your job, I only have four weeks left before I finish mine. My job have not offered me maternity leave or a job to come back to since they're "restructuring the company". Which is fine by me since I didn't have any intention of returning there anyway. And it means that I get to make a more graceful exit than some of my collegues have been given recently. Then a month after that my little boy will make his entrance, can't wait!

First time posting here so here goes! But first let me congratulate Tamari on the new job and mageprincess on your baby <3 It's downtime at work right now so I have some time to kill. I am a little stressed about our wedding preparations, but I'm hoping everything will be ironed out by January! Fingers crossed!

I spent the lead up to Christmas in the hospital because my little boy decided that he would like to be here in person to receive his Christmas presents. He arrived at 12:27 am on 22 December, three weeks before his due date and nine days before his planned exit date.
I spent the day of the 21st experiencing what we thought was false labour, but luckily decided that I would go to the hospital just in case, and it turned out it was very much real labour!! it all happened super fast!

Belated congrats to Tamari and mageprincess. To my fellow Aussies, I hope everyone is staying safe if they’re in a bushfire-prone area (which, touch wood, I’m not), and donating if they can afford it. Thank God for the firefighters. Hope everyone had a good Christmas and NY also.

Hope everyone is staying safe!
I have to say this deal with the coronavirus just made The Healing in the Vine resonate more strongly with me when I did a re-read during my quarantine* two weeks ago. Anyone got that sense?
*It's not actually a quarantine per se but they're requiring all people with flu to stay home for a week, just in case, so.

The coronavirus is in my town now and in a neighboring town as well. Scary times in the world now. I could definitely see how Briar's book would resonate more strongly in these times of pandemic, but I think reading a book about plague right now would make my anxiety spike too much. I got a panic attack three nights ago, so I'm trying to limit how much I think about the coronavirus.

Seek, I've definitely been thinking about Healing in the Vine recently! All the CoM books actually - I was answering a tweet about comfort books and considered mentioning them and then thought "earthquake, pirate attack, forest fire and plague...maybe not right now!"

Kypriotha, yes, they very much are comfort books... but not to new readers! Fires and plague are two topics that will probably exacerbate everyone’s anxiety. I’m starting to go a bit stir-crazy now. It’s been over two weeks and I can’t even go for a walk outside (for a couple of reasons). Thank God for ebooks! And I’m very relieved that my health issue (not COVID or related) turned out to be something familiar and not some weird new development. I freaked out about it for a good fortnight and was given the runaround by a couple of GPs before I got myself to a specialist. So really, I suppose not being able to go outside for a few weeks is a small price to pay for modern medical treatment

Second week of lockdown here. We're allowed out for exercise and necessary shopping but the supermarket gives me major anxiety, even though I'm my flat's designated shopper (guidelines are that only one person per household go shopping, at the same shop, to make sure they can trace infection better. And my other two flatmates were kind of semi-clashing so I nominated myself to keep the peace. It takes me hours to feel secure about everything being clean when I get home though). I haven't really exercise-exercised since the week my gym shut. I'm not quite sure about going for a run at the present time. Like yes it's allowed but also there are so many covidiots out and about. This in turn makes my anxiety higher because I usually manage it with cardio? Glad you're okay though mistrali

Thanks max. So am I, which is why I don’t really care about being cooped up. Yeah, given how the supermarkets have been lately, they’re not a great place to be. It’s hard not being able to exercise or go outside - especially when the weather is so nice. I hope you’ve managed to get some exercise in, regardless.

Happy Easter! No chocolate my end, but I did finally go for a run which felt great (after nearly a month of like. No exercise). My flatmate also made me dinner, which was super lovely.
Mostly just grateful to have had a few solid days off, as I'm still working from home weekdays.

Happy Easter to those who celebrate and happy public holidays to those who get them.
I liked having the four days off. I cancelled the leave I had booked for this week, since I wasn't able to go away like I'd planned and I didn't feel like spending a whole 10 days not working and not being able to go out, but I thought doing a few days of work, having a few days off and doing a few more days of work would be a good balance between work and rest. I did spend the last 2 days doing a lot of cleaning, partly because I'm home all the time now, so notice all the dirt more!

I just transferred three audiobooks from Overdrive to my spare MP3 player for my mom to listen to. She's had an upsetting day today, so hopefully they will get her mind off things.

For something quite soothing to listen to/watch, I really love the School of Life videos on Youtube too. It's the author's voice as much as it is the message.
Hope everyone's doing well still and life isn't too stressful.

I’m rereading SotL for the first time since high school and, ten pages into AtFA, I’m getting emotional because of tiny!Thom. I don’t think LR is going to be an easy read for me this time around.
In non-Tammy news, my doctor has given me a clean bill of... recovery (we won’t count our chickens) and I’ve resolved to go for a walk every day and start calorie tracking again.

That's a good non-counted chicken mistrali - I hope you are able to do your walks. Walks are something I'm glad I can still do at the moment and I miss them on the days I don't get to them.

That's great news, mistrali, and it's awesome that you're planning on going for a walk every day. Walking my dog every day has really been good for maintaining my mental, emotional, and physical health during these tough times.

Good thing though. I'm always happy to see Goldenlake is still chugging along Life's tiring and I'm enjoying working from home. All the tea I could want, and most importantly, I don't have to wear a mask. It can be difficult breathing with one on, and yeah, I know, I tank it anyway for everyone's safety, but I'd still rather not, so I stay in It's cold and rainy a lot these days! And I just collected my degree transcript by mail today
