♥ Harlequin Romance Challenge ♥
Share your guilty pleasures, flowers and chocolates and be prepared to swoon, because Goldenlake’s Harlequin Romance Challenge is coming soon!
When Is It?
7 February – 21 February
What Is It?
The Harlequin Romance Challenge is a celebration of all things romance, in particular, the extravagance of Harlequin romances. Roger, the famed royal prizefighter, winning hearts across the bull-fighting circuit? Briar, falling in love against his will after the tragedies of war? Alanna goes to the convent before masquerading as a knight into Court?
From extravagant plots and angsty hijinks bordering on disbelief, to fluffy reunions and pursuits of true love, the Harlequin Romance Challenge has something for everyone.
What Do I Do?
The main challenge of the event is writing Harlequin Romance fic. These can be inspired by your favourite Harlequin novel, your most-loved romance trope, or whatever romantic inspiration takes your fancy. Your fic can take the form of a blurb, or a summary, or general fic, so long as it’s over 100 words.
There will also be sprinkles of romance across the board, where we’ll be discussing our favourite romances and tropes across Tortall, Emelan, Entertainment and Writer’s Circle, so don’t forget to recommend your favourites!
Rules:
1. All fics must be posted to the Events forum.
2. The Goldenlake Fanfiction Rating Rules must be adhered to, with no explicit fics (NC-17) allowed. If you would like a refresher on the rules after reading, or are unsure where your fic falls, please contact a mod.
A special note for this challenge – many romance novels may contain tropes or themes that may concern some readers. If you feel that your fic may contain these, please be considerate and warn for them.
3. All fics must be over 100 words.
