Please make sure to use the spoiler tag if necessary. I only really have one 'tv night' that I stick to religiously - Sunday nights I watch Silent Witness, then The Tunnel, and then The Mentalist (by which time I fall into bed so that I can get up for work in a few hours...). In my head, I call it Crime Night. Of the three, The Mentalist is, unfortunately, lowest on my list; I'm not finding Jane as likable as in previous seasons, possibly because no one really tries to reign him in anymore and they let him have secret plans that then end up 'saving the day'. Plus the romance, though finally happening, sort of, just isn't going the way I'd hoped. The Tunnel is a great British+French crime show, with great actors (including Clemence Poesy, Stephen Dillane, and Angel Coulby). Apparently it was adapted from a Danish/Swedish show. Aaaand Silent Witness, which I will probably never not love. Even though the last few episodes seemed a bit repetitive in terms of 'whodunnit'. I do want to start a new tv show, but haven't really decided what. Orange Is The New Black is at the top of the list. Maybe Psych. I'm open to suggestions! So, what are you all watching??

I'm meant to be watching season 6 of Castle but I've stopped lately. I think it's partly because I know once I watch it all I'll be up to date and have nothing to watch and partly because I'm not liking one of the story lines. I watched a lot of Daria whilst I was home sick, which was lots of fun! In terms of current TV shows, I've been watching MasterChef with my mum, but that's almost over. I've watched little bits of Offspring here and there. I kind of wish I'd watched more of this season (I haven't really watched previous seasons). wordy, my sister watched seasons 4 and 5 of The Mentalist recently and I've also been getting annoyed with Jane.

Offspring I've started marathon watching from the first season, and Clegg is probably my favourite character, although everyone has their quirks. Nothing can beat his laser eyes in the pilot episode, though I'm a big fan of light-hearted TV, and Offspring definitely has my kind of humour in it - awkward.

I'm on the tail end of a massive Lost Girl marathon, I've spent the last week and half watching my way through all four seasons. It had been a while since I watched all of season 1 and 2, so it was nice to refresh my memory before season 5 comes out later this year.
When I'm not watching Lost Girl I've been watching Supernatural with my other half. It was really fun watching him get attached to Sam and Dean in the early seasons, but now we're up to 7, which I haven't seen either. It's still decent but they haven't actually hunted anything since season 4, which is a bit disappointing.
Other than that I've been watching the new season of Legend of Korra, which apparently Nickelodeon has not been treating with the reverence it deserves, and the new season of Witches of East End. Its been so great to have stuff on tv to watch again, I haven't really been watching much lately.

mageprincess I hear ya about Legend of Korra. Honestly this is my favorite season so far. That's really the one I'm watching intensively. I find it kind of sad because Nick were the ones who asked Bryke to make a second series after the success of A:TLA. If they gave it better advertising (not announcing seven days before the season premiere) then it probably would have better ratings. :/

kuno they've just announced that Korra is moving permanently to digital. The entire fandom is up in arms about it, but really most of us watch it online rather than on tv anyway. Apparently the tv ratings are dismal but the online viewing is through the roof. They're not cancelling it, since Nick already ordered a 4th season. Not that it being online makes any difference to me, since the fact that I'm in Australia means that none of the official live stream sites that Nick is posting the episodes on are available in my area anyway.

Well, as long as we get to see it since Book 3 is such a great season, but I hope that it doesn't somehow come back to bite us in the butt about it. :/ I would be watching it on TV, but I work Friday nights so watching it online is my only option. Not that it bothers me that much (no commercials ). If only Nickelodeon had given it better marketing I'm sure it would've been one of their better viewed shows. >_<

Funnily enough, one of the Korra Facebook groups noted that they started a bunch of advertising after the announecment about going digital.
the creators have been chatting about it at SDCC last weekend, they don't seem worried even though it came as a surprise for them too.

So I went to JB Hi-Fi intending to only pick up Pacific Rim, but there was a deal on so I came away with the first two seasons of Psych and the first season of Breaking Bad as well. >__> I've watched the first two episodes of Psych and it's quite amusing, though I'm a bit sad that they seem to have switched out a character after the pilot episode. kuno and mageprincess: I've been thinking about starting Avatar but my attention span for animated series isn't as good as it used to be. One day, though! I've heard such good things about the series. Though the live-action movie (well, the few minutes I managed to get through) was pretty horrifying, even to someone like me who isn't a 'fan'.

wordy: Oh, Avatar is great! Honestly, I swear by my soul with that show. The character development is masterful. Plus, the choreography is excellent. Grade A show. Often times it's at the end when everything comes together and it's just beautiful Now the live-action movie... we as a fandom do not speak of it.

wordy it turned into one of those niche shows that didn't really fit into Nick's regualr viewing, which is why Korra is having so much trouble now; the kids that watched Airbender a few years ago are watching Korra now and are generally a lot older than the average Nick viewer. It's a wonderful show, with the best humor and a great cast of characters. As far as the movie goes, it was far from perfect. It wasn't even something that could be called good. But to be fair, they crammed 22 episodes of content into an hour and a half, which in reality wasn't too bad an effort, they just went about it entirely wrong. The thing is, they actually didn't really deviate from the story all that much (I actually thought the Northern Water Tribe thing was done really well), but between poor casting choices (There was some serious white washing going on there), and the ridiculous amount of time it took them to actually bend anything, what had the potential to be completely epic pretty much just fizzled. Part of the problem was probably that Nickelodeon still had the rights and the film was made under their name, which meant that it was a short 'kids movie' with kids movie restrictions, rather than something amazing had it been treated as a young adult film or separated from Nick entirely.

I can sum up what was wrong with the Avatar movie in one word: Shyamalan. Spoiler Also I'm still not over how badly they screwed up the siege of the North, to say nothing of the whitewashing. wordy I seriously recommend you give it a go. It's basically the LotR of cartoons in terms of its worldbuilding. Anyway I started watching Witches of East End from the beginning on Saturday. It's like... totally silly but I'm still enjoying it a lot.

max WoEE is totally different from its book counterpart, but I think it's so good because the author is involved in it. Honestly, I think more books should be made in to tv shows rather than movies. I've been watching a ton of anime recently, which is great because for a long time I didn't watch very much at all, if any. But with the new Sailor Moon Crystal being released (and a complete re-dub of the 90's version in the works!) as well as new Fairy Tail and Sword Art Online II becoming available, I am in total anime nerd heaven!

Re changes -- I can imagine, especially seeing as it's a Lifetime show. But that is very cool that the author's involved.
And I agree wrt tv being a better transition for books than movies. You can just fit so much more into them.
(This is also partly why I don't get Les Mis. That book is huge and they were like MUSICAAAAAL! Like what if they made War and Peace into a musical?)
Also, yay anime. I've been going through Bleach (because I'm up to date in the manga, but never got into the anime til I was procrastinating this year), which has been cool, except for the anime-only filler arc I'm currently mired in. I've checked on the net and most people recommend skipping it altogether with the exception of two or three episodes, but I just can't bring myself to skip things.
Other than that, the most recent series I watched start to finish was Samurai Champloo. Because. Hip hop and samurai. What's not to love, man..

max I love both the musical and the book of Les Mis, but yeah... they had to cut out an insane amount of important events and characters. But unlike a lot of other books turned movie/musical/tv show, it was still amazing

max Actually I just found out that M. Night Shyamalan wasn't really to be blamed! Someone from the production team of the movie came forward just recently and gave some insight on what really happened. As it turns out, the higher ups just really screwed him over and he was actually one of the only people who kept trying to keep the movie accurate. BUt the higher ups wouldn't listen to him. The original thread on Avatar Spirit isn't there anymore, but it all makes absolute sense. I found a source where someone got what a copy of the user's post. Here's what the user fully said: www.toonzone.net/forums/entertainment-board/369791-insight-how-last-airbender-terrible-why-its-not-entirely-shyamalans-fault.html#.U_Jst2OkS9EIsn't that sad? Since he's blamed for the whole thing?

kuno this kind of goes back to what I was saying, that there was actually nothing inherently wrong with this movie, but poor choices have turned it into a piece of junk. Learning that directors don't have a lot to do with casting, this actually makes a lot of sense.

kuno thanks for that. Particularly because I'd read somewhere that Shyamalan's daughter had adored the series specifically bc Katara was such a role model for her, being this brown and badass lead heroine and all, and the racewashing note really hadn't made sense to me, in light of that. I will never forgive what a turd the final film was but yes, shifting my blame a step further back. At least partially.

I only really watch netflix. Right now I watch Gilmore Girls when I'm alone and then Greys Anatomy with my fiance. Once we're done with Greys were going to watch the latest season of New Girl and then Friends once that comes out in January.
I can't wait for the next season of Orange is the New Black.

I'm currently watching Modern Family season 2 (because I found it really cheap at a charity store). The stereotypes and dramas annoy me sometimes, but overall I find the show really funny.
Hopefully I will acquire Castle season 6 in the post-Christmas sales and I can finally catch up!
