Title: in the wrist
Rating: G
Word Count: 259
Bingo: Light+Carefree+Friends+Games+Sun
Summary (and any Warnings): A friendly game. Cheaters never prosper (unless you don’t get caught).
The Dove was still half-empty of furniture. Aniki had claimed some dusty floorboards that were being warmed by the morning sun; that was where Rosto found her, stretched out like a satisfied cat.
He nudged her with the toe of his boot and she flinched, opening one eye and squinting up at him. “So, the rat king finally turned up,” she remarked.
“I was busy.” He sat down next to her, reaching inside his vest to pull out a pair of well-used dice. “But I don’t have to be busy again for a few hours. Want to play?”
“You always cheat.” She rolled her back to him and the sunlight through the window turned her blonde hair gold.
“That was one time!”
When she didn’t answer, he nudged her with his boot again. “Come on, Aniki,” he pleaded. “I’ll be good.”
“Sweet-talking won’t get you anywhere,” she said, but finally she sighed and heaved herself up into a sitting position. Rosto blew her a kiss. She scowled.
“What are we playing for, then—”
She caught his wrist and the dice stopped their rattling. “Not with those,” she said, raising a pale eyebrow. From about her own person, she procured another set of dice, which looked equally well-worn as his own. She even offered them to him; after tossing them upon the floorboards a few times, Rosto was satisfied the dice weren’t rigged.
“No cheating,” she reminded him as they set out their bets on the floor.
“Nor you,” he said.
She huffed a laugh. “Shut up and roll.”
