Title: Tangled
Rating: PG
Word Count: 300
Pairing: Kel/Lalasa
Round/Fight: 2/A
Summary: fluffy fluff, because I really wanted to write some sort of cute discovering of feelings/first kiss fic. Neal doesn't barge in, we'll leave that for another unfortunate moment. Warnings for light femslash.
***
It crept up on her slowly, but much as she tried to deny it, it only persisted. She could no longer look Kel in the eye, and in sewing, where she usually found refuge, her head was filled with Keladry, only Kel, all Kel. Fittings and self defence and each accidental touch felt like a brand that marked her attraction.
It was something that even Kel couldn't help but notice, if only because the girl who had become her friend had gradually become a mouse again.
She broached the topic during a fitting, when Lalasa once again dropped a pin, ducking down to retrieve it amidst a flurry of apologies.
“Is something the matter, Lalasa? Has someone hurt you?”
She still wouldn't meet her eyes, but the answer was definite. “Oh, my lady, no. The men don't bother me any more, they know what my no means.'
That would have been all there was to the matter, but when Lalasa had finally finished with the hem of Kel's tunic, after a few more dropped items and cringing moments, Kel asked her again what was wrong. The proximity as she stood up, reaching for Kel almost instinctively to balance herself, and the flicker of emotion she thought, hoped, she saw in her eyes, made Lalasa act in a moment of impulsiveness.
It was but a brief kiss on the cheek, a confession in all but words. While she waited for judgement from a stunned Kel, she packed up her sewing equipment, suddenly both lighter and freer and all the more frightened than before.
A tap on her shoulder made her spin around, and all she registered was the joyful face of Kel before her kiss was returned, this time on the lips. It was Kel, her Keladry, and Lalasa's heart soared.
