Title: Over Coffee Rating: PG Summary: Neal and Yuki go out for coffee. Word Count: 150 Round/Fight: R1 FD
"Professor Cavall kills me every time," Neal muttered as they shuffled through the crowd. Woollen sweatshirts brushed woollen sweatshirts, toques were thrown onto tables and elbowed aside. The smell of roasting coffee beans stuck to everyone including Yuki, and Neal thought a bit groggily that it went well with her perfume. "Well, did you bait him again?" she asked, raising a perfectly shaped eyebrow, un-dyed. "Who could resist?" he said, throwing out his hands. "He's infuriating. Apparently he 'doesn't appreciate my overconfidence.' And his policies are outrageous. There's one girl in our class and he makes a point of addressing sexist topics in front of her." "Oh, Neal," she sighed. "Italics are a weakness with you, aren't they?" He was already getting a table, so he couldn't see her hair coming out of its tight knot, or her warm brown eyes watching his face in the peachy Starbucks light.

Lies. Dirty lies. Italics are never a weakness.

I notice this as I read more of your work, but I like how you've woven canon details into your writing. Attention to details rocks!

I really like the way you've mirrored canon in this modern AU. And the italic line = awesome.

Griff lol. Thanks. Muse I love details, including canon refs. In TV shows/movies that are adapted from books - when they add these little things from the canon it makes so happy. Thanks! mistrali Thank you! I like writing them modernly ubiquitous Haha thanks! I was worried it sounded too cheesy so I'm glad you liked it!
