Title: Lessons Rating: G Word Count: 208 Pairing: Buri/Raoul Round/Fight: 1D Summary: Set sometime between the end of A:tfa and the beginning of PotS. You can’t teach an old dog new tricks, but you can help him remember the old ones.
“It’s been years since I did this,” says Raoul, shaking out his arms before raising the bow and giving it an experimental pluck. “But if you’re really looking forward to me making a fool of myself…”
He looks aside in time to see Buri pressing her lips together: out of impatience or amusement, he’s not quite sure. Her hair is not pulled back as tightly today, and it softens her, only slightly, wispy tendrils attempting to escape with the breeze. He accepts an arrow from her and turns back to the job at hand. The target seems awfully far away.
He lets off the arrow and it floats wide.
When Buri hands him the next arrow and he puts it to the string, there’s a sudden warmth by his side and small, steady hands turning him into position, straightening his arm, pressing against his back.
The second arrow veers even wider.
Buri raises an eyebrow, a smile threatening.
“I told you I’d make a fool of myself,” he says.
“Tomorrow,” is all that she says, and leaves him to collect the fallen arrows. He can’t help feeling strangely determined to make her smile properly, and that seems even more foolish than the prospect of embarrassing himself with archery.

Oh, Raoul~! This is lovely, Em. ...it might sound odd, but I really like that you've chosen to focus on something that is more of a weakness for Raoul, especially since we see him in canon in his element more often than not. And his observation of a softer Buri, less tense and straightlaced, is really a lovely counterpoint to the rest of the fic.
