Title: Wedding Rating: G Word Count: 125 Pairing: Kalasin/Kaddar Round/Fight: 1/A Summary: It is their wedding day
Something old something new something borrowed something blue.
Kalasin has strapped the first dagger her mother ever gave her underneath her gown with a lace coloured garter, and placed the earrings Kaddar gave her just last night through carefully made holes in her ears. The light blue gown is her mother’s, of course, but Kalasin wouldn’t have it any other way.
“Come on,” says Kaddar quietly, and pulls her from the linen tent into the bright, harsh sunshine of her new home.
They are in the hot sun of her ruined dreams and his fresh hopes, and Kaddar and Kalasin kiss each other for the first time with hot desert sand in the folds of their feet.
Something old something new something borrowed something blue.

This shocked me out of my seat! It's so powerful for something so short, and I love the proverb you included. The last paragraph about the hot sun is absolutely divine.

I agree with Tamari, because the choice to begin and end the fic with the proverb is a phenomenal framing device.

I want to see his reaction when he finds the dagger. Unexpected surprises abound with those Tortallan girls.
