Title: in it to win it Rating: G Prompt: #2 festivities Summary: The four make like Santa’s elves and get busy.
“I don’t wanna brag,” said Briar, loftily ignoring Daja’s snort, “but I’ve got this in the bag.”
“Well, I’m glad you can see that the pleasure of the holidays is in the giving rather than the receiving,” she said, reaching across the bench for a tool.
Briar waved a hand dismissively. “I’ll tell you my idea, if you want. Not like you can steal it.”
Daja shrugged.
“So, everyone’s getting a flower. Wait, wait—that sounds pretty lame, but it’s good. I’m growing them from scratch, and I’ve chosen each one...” he trailed off at the expression on Daja’s face. “What?”
“That sounds sweet. But this year we promised to make all our presents ourselves. Homemade. No help,” she finished, twiddling her fingers in a way that was supposed to represent magic.
“But—”
“Tris,” Daja yelled at the ceiling.
No magic, came the amused reply.
Briar scowled. Daja patted his hand, leaving a grease stain. “Would you be able to grow them in time, without using magic?” she asked kindly.
“No.”
“Best come up with another idea, then. Unless you want to give up the contest so soon?” she said, all innocence.
“Huh.” He pushed away from the bench and left the forge, muttering curses about girls and presents under his breath. Daja smiled to herself and went back to work.

I bet he'll think up something amazing and Daja will pretend not to be impressed. I really liked how you included Tris in mind-speak.
