Title: one enchanted evening Rating: G Prompt: #16 festive colours Summary: A Midwinter gathering. A/N: For Cass.
“Well, there aren’t any curtains,” said Flyndan, upon entering the room. Boughs of holly were strung above every window, a charming contrast to the night sky beyond; the remainder of the decorations were red ribbons that looked soft to the touch. “I suppose there’s always the table,” said Raoul in a resigned tone. Flyn shot him a look. “Hmph. I don’t know why I let you talk me into this.” “Because it’s Midwinter, and no one should be alone at Midwinter.” “I don’t see why you assume—” A flash of colour caught his eye from across the crowded room and whatever Flyn was saying beside him was reduced to a low buzz. He would recognise those colours anywhere, having worn them his entire life. When she caught his eye, she smiled, and he knew that the soft green of her dress would only make her hazel eyes seem brighter. She moved out of his line of sight and he realised that Flyn had stopped talking. Raoul looked at him. “You’re the worst date I’ve ever had,” Flyn told him. “And I’m about to get worse,” said Raoul, passing off his goblet to him. “Don’t wait up.” “What happened to no one being alone at Midwinter?” Flyn called after him. Raoul waved a hand at him but didn’t turn back. He had no intention of being alone this Midwinter, and he was quite sure that a certain lady knight felt the same way as he did.

Aww. I haven't read Kel/Raoul before, but it's starting to grow on me.
