Series: A Year in the Life Title: Garden Rating: G Event: 100 Word Dash Words: 100 Summary: Rosethorn reflects upon her new garden.
Rosethorn kind of thought of a new garden as a fresh start. It might be neither the kind of tangled challenge nor the carefully maintained beauties that green mages usually loved, but as she sat in her garden next to Discipline, she could feel the potential in the Earth. It told her it was ready to do whatever she asked. She reflected upon the fact it didn’t have any bad habits yet. She could truly shape it to her will. Rosethorn simply hoped that all things in her life were as easy to manage as she planted the first seed.

This rings so true to character. I instantly parallel it with the end of Briar's Book, where Rosethorn's afterlife is one sprawling, untamed garden. It's also so sweet to see this younger, more optimistic Rosethorn!

I love this. The idea of Rosethorn feeling potential in the earth and knowing that the garden didn't have any bad habits yet really agrees with her character.
