Title: Running Away Rating : G Word Count: 257 Summary: Rispah runs away from home.
George scratched his head, surveying the girl in front of him. She was only a year younger than him “You should go home. Your ma will be worried sick.” He didn’t really want his cousin to go home, but he also wasn’t sure she was up to the kind of life he lead.
Rispah sniffed. “I’ll make my own choices, thanks.” She glared at George. “I’m not going to the convent.” She puffed out her chest. “I’m my own woman.”
“And what about when your brothers turn up in a few hours, lookin’ for you?” George wanted to know. He winced at the thought of what his ma would say when four burly Provost’s Guards appeared outside their door.
Rispah’s eyes were fierce. “I’ll tell them the same thing. I’m fourteen, they can’t make me go anywhere. I’ll stay here with you and your Ma.” She paused for a moment. “I don’t want to be a priestess. All that praying, and bowing, and silence? I wouldn’t last a week. At least here, I can be useful. I can help Aunt Eleni with her healing, and she can teach me herbs and charms.” She grinned. “I can have adventures.”
George couldn’t help himself; he grinned as well. Rispah was smart, and she had fight in her. He instinctively knew she’d do alright in the lower city, once he’d taught her a bit; and he couldn’t deny that it would be nice to have some company.
He stood, and helped her up. “Well, we better go tell Ma, then.”

I did not know I needed this fic in my life. It's lovely, and I want to write all sorts of Rispah's adventures now.

This is great Katty! I love seeing young, but still feisty Rispah, and I especially love her relationship with George

I love the depth you give Rispah in this fic, and the way George understands her. Great job!
