"Alianne."
Aly jumps at the sound of her full name, then reflexively shoves the lockpick down her boot.
"Ma!" she says, opening her arms. "You're home!"
Alanna looks at her daughter. "I am," she says. "For the next month at least."
"Da'll be pleased," Aly says. "Me too, of course. I have been ever so lonely without company."
"I'm sure I'll hear the same from Arin of Irimor, if I were to ask." Alanna sits heavily on the ottoman. "Lovely young man, I'm told."
Aly wrinkles her nose. "He's boring," she says.
"Picking locks is more interesting?" Alanna rolls her eyes. "Aly, you-- you know you can't keep doing this." Aly's lips become pinched, and Alanna pretends not to notice. "Let's find your father then, shall we?"
