Summary: Watch will be a little different from now on.
“Nothing like a fresh litter of Pups to liven things up a bit around here,” Mattes commented as the ring from the slammed door echoed around the Commander’s office. Sir Acton gave him a tentative smile in return, looking most relieved that he’d dealt with the last of his new training Dogs for the new trainees. “She doesn’t much like surprises, my lord,” Mattes added by way of explanation, and he ambled out of the Commander’s office after his partner with a grin.
Clary was gripping the gixie and giving her an earful, and Mattes couldn’t help but notice the other Dogs in the kennel attempting to keep a straight face. He felt rather than saw Clary’s glare, and he turned his gaze from their new Pup to her.
“Time to start the babysitting detail,” she grumbled.
Mattes grinned again. He’d always wanted a Puppy, and Clary would be just fine once she settled into their new routine. He looked at the ice-eyed gixie in front of them. “Come on, Puppy Cooper.” This was going to be interesting.
