Title: Bright Sunlight Dance
Rating: G
Word Count: 305
Card: Summer
Bingo: Fresh, Cotton, Lazy Afternoon, Friends, Fruit
Summary: Evin and Miri, being Evin and Miri.
"This is nice," Evin said as he stretched out under the eaves of the tree, revelling in the fresh air, the bright sunlight and the excellent company.
Miri watched him, and smiled. She always marvelled at just how much of him there was. "You're too tall," she informed him, not for the first time.
"I'm just making up for your shortcomings." He shot her a dazzling smile. "Shortcomings, get it? Because you're short?"
Miri rolled her eyes. "I'm not that short."
"No, perhaps not." He reached up and pressed the end of her nose, making her scrunch up her face. "But you are rather tiny."
She poked out her tongue and lay down beside him.
"This is nice," he said again, snaking his arm under her head. "We don't do this enough."
She murmured her agreement as she slowly twisted the stem off her apple. One twist, 'A'. Two twists, 'B'...
Five twists... five... she continued turning both the apple and her hand until both wrists began to pull, before finally, with a determined tug, pulling the stem from the apple. Five twists, 'E'. For Evin.
"How many was that?" he asked, not even having to look.
"Nine," she lied smoothly. Evin was just her friend after all. Just her friend. And that was enough for her.
"Do we even know anyone whose name starts with 'I'?" he asked, pulling her closer up against his side.
"Not that I can think of," Miri replied, turning her head to press her cheek against his shirt, the smooth cotton brushing against her skin.
"Are you going to eat that?" Evin asked even as he tugged the apple from her hand.
"Probably not," she said with a smile, watching the flecks of bright sunlight dance across the leaves above her.
"You never do," he said, taking a bite.
