Title: Two is Company
Rating: G
Word Count: 265
Card: Summer
Bingo: Sun, Sweat, Outdoors, Trees, Somewhere New
Summary: Liam and Alan. Walking. (Title by Figgs)
They made their way across the expanse of dry brittle grass, towards the shade of the dense forest in the distance, the sun beating down against their skin.
Alan wiped his brow for what felt like the hundredth time, giving himself a slight reprieve from the relentless coating of sweat. Unfortunately there was little he could do for the warm trickle running between his shoulder blades.
"What's wrong with our usual spot?" he demanded of his companion up ahead.
The prince turned back, tanned cheeks flushed with exertion. "I thought we'd try someplace different."
"Different?" Alan asked, his suspicion aroused.
"Somewhere new." The prince grinned before taking a gulp from his flask.
"It's too hot for this, Liam." Alan took the offered flask and, after splashing his face briefly, took a long drink.
Liam laughed - he seemed to be doing that a lot today - and accepted the water flask back, securing it to the satchel slung across his shoulders. "I thought riding with the Own would have toughened you up! A hardened war veteran, and all that."
The younger man couldn't help but smile, his friends enthusiasm seemed to be catching. "This is supposed to be my day off. I'm supposed to be relaxing!"
Liam's hand flicked out to thump his friend on the chest good-naturedly. "Stop complaining. We're almost at the trees - then we're halfway!"
"Halfway?" Alan groaned. "Where are we going? The Roof of the World? At least it will be cool there!"
"Don't be ridiculous, Alan! The Roof is to the south and we, my friend, are headed north!"
