Title: Alternative Advantage Rating: PG Word Count: 162 Pairing: Jon/Zahir – Team Bend-a-lot Round/Fight: 1A Summary: Zahir made a tradeoff.
:::
Zahir watched intently as Keladry of Mindelan charged towards their old training master. He winced as they collided, sure of the outcome, and just as predicted, Keladry landed in a puddle. Zahir turned away as relief and contentment flooded his consciousness; though ridiculously unlikely, if Keladry were to unseat Wyldon of Cavall it would be an embarrassment for all other squires.
Still, Keladry had an advantage over most the other squires: Lord Raoul. King Jonathan would never sink so low as to teach Zahir jousting. Would the king dare to sully his perfect clothes if he were to slip in the mud? Most definitely not. Even if his majesty were to remain polished, seeing the royal colors fouled upon Zahir would be a horror.
Yes, Keladry of Mindelan certainly had a different type of knight-master. But, as King Jonathan had proven many times, Zahir’s knight-master had his own advantages.
Not that Keladry would ever realize. His benefits were reaped solely in private.

Zahir's just naive like that. And plus, he believes that no one can outsmex the king.

I beg to differ. Kel gets extra training from Lord Wyldon too. Because she is promising with the joust and she needs to learn not to reel from the tilt. Also, I love this, Allie!
