Title: Mire Rating:PG Word Count: 121 Pairing: Lark/Rosethorn Round/Fight: 2/B Summary: Rosethorn visits the Mire
Lark didn’t know that Rosethorn was doing this, because if she did she would surely insist on coming along, and that was the last thing Rosethorn wanted or needed.
Ever since Rosethorn had arrived at Winding Circle she had heard horrible things about the Mire. The people who lived there were to be pitied, but not too much.
Walking into the slum, Rosethorn kept reminding herself that Lark had lived there. Maybe there were other people who lived there because they were sick or old and didn’t have families to take care of them. Maybe there were those who were mages but didn’t know it.
Rosethorn kept telling herself that this visit was for Lark, to help her understand her better.

Oh, I love the idea that Rosie is teaching herself compassion through understanding of Lark's story and life. This is heart-warming. Well, painful too, but it's coming from such an eye-opening place of personal growth that I can't help being proud of Rosethorn and drawing some joy from that. Lovely story!
