Mattes admired the way that the sun shone onto Clary’s hair and lit up her eyes before letting his eyes drift down and linger on her body. “You should’ve been a cat,” he murmured. “Or a lizard. Not a Dog.”
His partner’s brow furrowed slightly. “What?”
“I had no idea that you liked the sun so much. Look at you, you’re near about purring.”
Clary smiled and stretched, enjoying the feeling of the sun on her skin. “It’s warm,” she said lazily. “It’s nice.”
Mattes grinned at her. “I need to take you to the desert sometime. Of course, there aren’t so many trees, so you’d have a few onlookers if you decided to sun yourself bare.”
“How’s that any different to now?”
Mattes looked put out. “Well, there’s only one of me.”
Clary grinned. “And you’re not admiring me nearly as much as you should be.”
Mattes took that as an invitation to do some admiring with his hands.
