Summary: Clary and Mattes discuss his new partner
“I can’t believe you’re leaving me,” Mattes murmured.
Clary half-smiled, curled up next to him on the bed. “You’ll get used to it. Beka will be a good partner.”
“It won’t be the same,” Mattes protested, waggling his eyebrows at her.
Clary burst out laughing. “It had sarden better not be. If you touch Beka-”
“Like I’ve touched you,” he slipped in, looking smug.
“Like - that - you’ll have to deal with me.”
Mattes slid his hand over her thigh, his fingers creeping up her leg. “I could handle that.”
She whipped her baton out, and let it hang directly over his head. His fingers paused in their way upwards, and he glanced upwards at the baton.
“I’ll behave.”
She smirked, thunking the baton gently down on his head anyway. “Thought so.”
