Title: Obligations Rating: G Wordcount: 213 Pairing: Team Girl Power (Buri/Thayet) Round: 1/B Summary: Buri just can’t do this Buri was displeased. It wasn’t just the russet silk dress she had been forced to wear, or even the pinching bronze cloth slippers. She disliked getting dressed up, feeling more like a doll than a warrior, but she would always do it for Thayet. No, she had grown up making these little sacrifices for her princess. She had been making them since she was a child: no matter what Thayet’s needs came first. She didn’t care, she had long ago started taking joy in that beautiful (no, er…unique) smile. But she would not do this for Thayet’s wedding. No, it was just too scary, to see her walk right back into a royal family. The life that she had tried so hard to escape, now coming back, seemed just as scary as before, independent of how “stable” the Tortallian government was. Or how blue Jon’s eyes were. But now she was choosing it, and Buri just couldn’t watch. No, Buri’s dislike of this marriage had nothing to do with the fact that she would no longer have the princess to scare away the bad dreams. It had nothing to do with the fact that her bed would be cold. No, it was her job to protect the older girl, this just got in the way of her obligations.

It's pretty. I like how you get into Buri's head while she's in denial. (Even though this is for the enemy) I liked it.

A really well-drawn scene

Yes, exactly! This is very perceptive (and also lovely).
