Title: Picture in a Picture Frame Rating: PG Wordcount: 135 Pairing: Team Girl Power (Buri/Thayet) Round: 1/B Summary: A quiet moment between Buri and Alanna, after the wedding. (Italicized text is quoted from the song "Book of Love" by Dar Williams and excluded from word count.)
A picture in a picture frame That beauty can allow
“It’s a pretty good likeness,” Alanna says, over my right shoulder.
I’m in the passage between the throne room, where the wedding ceremony and Thayet’s coronation took place, and the grand ballroom, where the festivities are still in progress. The first official portrait of King Jonathan and Queen Thayet — painted during the same excruciating weeks when I was learning to comport myself like a Tortallan lady — hangs just outside the throne room. It will stay there through the summer: long enough for any curious citizens to wander in and take a look at their new co-sovreign’s image.
Thayet is beautiful, of course. As for the king… “He looks so smug,” I grumble. Handsome, too, but I’m not going to say that.
“As I said,” she agrees, grinning, “a good likeness.”

I think this is my favourite. The happy noise I made even at the summary proves it to be so

Hee. In my mind, Buri and Alanna get along very well.
