Title: A Solemn Wedding Vow Rating: PG Wordcount: 133 Pairing: Team Girl Power (Buri/Thayet) Round: 1/B Summary: At Thayet's wedding, Buri deals with well meaning questions. (Italicized text is quoted from the song "Book of Love" by Dar Williams and excluded from word count.)
All for some processional A solemn wedding vow
I hear the same comments more times than I can count.
“It’s a beautiful ceremony.”
“She’s a beautiful bride.”
“Aren’t they perfect together?”
And strangely — said in a confidential manner, “You must be so proud.”
I can answer all the other statements honestly enough by just saying, “Yes, of course,” but not that one. Why should I be proud of Thayet’s marriage?
Finally it’s Sir Raoul who says it — someone I know fairly well — and my head snaps up so I can look him in the eye. “Why?” I demand.
“You kept her safe.” He grins. “And you kept her from doing something foolish, like going through with that plan to start over as a commoner.”
I’m not sure it’s fair to credit me with that.

You have a real way with taking small details and making them shine. I can SEE this conversation, and I'm not very visual in my reading most of the time. But it's excellent.
