Title: Solace Part I
Rating: PG
Word Count: 262
Pairing: Team Scheme (Aly/Taybur)
Round/Fight: 1/D
Summary: Aly can’t cope with her family anymore.
Aly looked back only once at the nursery window. She could see a man’s silhouette, lifting a crying child. His baby – their baby’s -- unhappy wails were audible across the distance. Her mouth twisted and she turned impatiently away, urging her horse onward just a bit faster than before. It was unclear to her exactly where she was going, but Aly knew that she had to go.
Whether she planned to or not, Aly stepped through the grand gates into the palace and strolled a while in the Pavilion of Delightful Pleasures under the moonless night sky. Ideas tumbled in her head as she walked. Who would she go to? For a moment, she thought to consult Dove – the level-headed queen would stay sharp and calm enough to assist Aly in her time of need. Then again, the queen had all sorts of trouble to deal with as it was, what with trying to squelch the luarin protests and cover up that embarrassing accident with the Carthaki ambassador. Her thoughts turned to another clear-thinking acquaintance who dwelled conveniently nearby.
She stood for a while before Taybur’s door before she could bring herself to knock on it. Taking a deep breath, Aly banished the whirlwind of emotions that had been plaguing her since she first discovered her pregnancy. She thought of what her parents would say. Surely Mother had never felt so trapped by her da.
With a last desperate wish that this visit would help her find the old Aly, she rapped her knuckles against the door and hoarsely whispered his name.
