Title: Deep Rating: PG Word count: 137 Pairing: Clary/Mattes Round/Fight: 4/A Summary: Clary and Mattes argue sometimes; argument #2. Sometimes we’re hurt and it cuts deep. (lyrics from Bleed Red by Ronnie Dunn.)
In the light of the day, its harder than Clary thought it would be to remember everything good—the bad stands out like a purpling bruise, and the balm of reconciliation under the moon the night before shrinks away until it almost hurts again.
Trepidation walks in her footsteps as Clary makes her way through the late afternoon crowds on her way to the Jane Street Kennel; she’s almost convinced herself to turn around when she suddenly arrives.
Relief sparks within her as Mattes stands from the step where he was waiting—he was waiting, she thinks happily—and her hand reaches for his.
“Ready?”
Trusting Mattes has always been easy, and she’s careful not to poke at the bruises they dealt each other the other day as she clasps his hand gently in her own.
“Ready.”

Ooh, I'm fascinated that she finds it harder to think of the good things in daylight, and feels more relaxed by the thought of the moon/night!
