Title: Even Princesses, (Secret #1) Rating: G Word Count: 243 Pairing: Kalasin/Wyldon Round/Fight: 1/C Summary: Kalasin goes to the last person who can help her.
The young girl pauses before the great oak door. She takes a needed minute to compose herself, to wipe away the still-trickling tears, to rub at red-rimmed eyes. One final breath settles her, and a small tanned hand darts out to knock on the door before it lost courage.
It takes a minute for the door to open - she supposed he didn’t get many visitors - but then she blinked and the training master watched her, only a glint of emotion in his impassive eyes.
“Princess Kalasin?” The question is not a question; of course he knows who she is. She’s been watching the pages and squires since she was old enough to be fascinated by the sharp glint of a sword.
Kally speaks then, with a strong confident voice at odds with her appearance.
“Father said no. Mother said no. I shall not be a page, Lord Wyldon, not while I am more useful as a princess. It is my duty.” Her voice breaks on the last word, and her composure is lost. The rest fumbles over itself. “But even a princess should know how to fight, right?”
Wyldon says nothing for a minute as his dark eyes flit over the little girl. Perhaps he assesses the strength in that wiry body, or the way she shifts her weight uneasily, or how with every passing second she never looks away even as her dreams crumble to dust.
“Indeed they do, princess.”

I like how Wyldon recognizes all of those emotions in her- and that he decides to help.

Oh Wyldon; I can totally see this happening. I love how you've portrayed Kally, too; trying to be strong, and do what is said, but also coming to conclusions for herself...
