Title: Reaching Through Rating: G Word Count: 206 Pairing: Wyldon/Kalasin Fight: 1C Summary: Her magic can penetrate where others’ cannot.
“You’ve hurt yourself,” the princess said, leaning on the fence. She’d been watching him practice, sparring with other knights despite the winter chill and the snow that was beginning to fall.
“Highness, you shouldn’t be out here.”
“I like to watch the knights.” Everyone knew that Kalasin once wanted to fight; Wyldon wondered what he would have done differently, had she been permitted to do so. Would he have been able to place her on probation? Would he have treated her more fairly than he did Keladry of Mindelan, due to her rank?
He walked to her side, wiping the sweat from his brow with the arm that didn’t throb. “You can tell that I ache from that far away?”
She nodded and smiled up at him, her blue eyes sparkling with some expression he couldn’t read. Laying one small, smooth hand over his arm, she pulled the pain from him. He could feel the coolness of her Gift easing the bruised and damaged flesh, cutting through every barrier that years upon years of healings had built up. “Remarkable,” he murmured.
Kalasin looked up at him again, her expression perfectly legible to him, and not as comforting as her magic.

It's so Wyldon for him to continue practising through the pain, and I like how he is concerned that she might have an attachment to him at the end. Lovely!

That's lovely! I really like the idea that Kalasin's gift is different, special in a way.

Thank you so much!! Nicki - I discovered that writing these two together is quite fun, in every scenario. So even if you don't write it now, I hope you explore their dynamic someday!
