Title: A Window in Your Heart Rating: PG Wordcount: 186 Pairing: Gary/Raoul Round: 1/E Summary: Gary watches Raoul after Francis' death
It is, I am loathe to admit, surprising to learn that there are things that can't be fixed by being funny or charming.
It hurt all of us when Francis died, but Raoul is farther gone than anyone else. His eyes are red all the time, and I don't much buy into the notion that tears are unmanly, but it just doesn't look right on him. He is meant to be happy and smiling, not this sad sack of a squire.
And I can't make him better.
I can't make him smile again, or laugh, and I can't figure out why this is so important to me. Yes, I want my friends to be happy, but some days it's all I can think about. I want to fix him, but I don't know how.
I don't understand it, why this is apparently my new obsession, but not understanding it doesn't make it not true. I'm “too clever by half,” my father says, but all of that can't get me an answer to make Raoul happy again, and right now, that's the only thing I care about.

Awww, Gary Gary's so in character, and I like that with all his sharpness and wit, he can't fix it when he sees the wind blow. It's nice to see a fic in the first-person, as I haven't seen many so far. P.S. In case you didn't get my hint, I LOVE Paul Simon!!!
