Title: A Memory of Feathers Rating: G Prompt: #2 Summary: Aly could have had the duality that haunts her dreams, if only she'd been willing to walk away (or fly). And now?
It's impossible to live on two legs for long without thinking like a two-legger.
She knows that.
He's beautiful.
She knows that.
His clever hands; his bare skin, unexpectedly soft in places; his low voice-- these are all things she loves about him.
And she knows that.
But on some nights, in bed with Nawat, thinking of what they'll do come morning with their shared brilliance, Aly cannot dismiss what she remembers.
(His hair casting feathered shadows. The old harsh laughter. It was the contradictions, the inhumanities, that wooed her, caught her. Now-- it's the inhumanities that are gone.)

Aly's in a bit of a tough spot, I'd say!
But well done - interesting response!

Ooh, I liked this a lot. I had to go back and read this once I was done because at the beginning you refer to two-leggers and I thought you were referring to Daine.
But I definitely like the Aly/Nawat spin. But I like how Aly's in love with his animal side, not his human side. And the last bit's imagery is lovely. Great work!

Very nicely done!
You've just inspired me to go back and complete my half written Aly/Nawat fic.

That's a very new angle on their relationship, the explanation for Crow-man that we never got. So thanks and well done!

Very interesting response. I love the spin you've put on this, and it's well executed too.

Wow, I love it! This really gives you something to think about, and I have to agree that Nawat had a little more *something* when he was a crow.

I like to get back what I lost in reading the hot-and-heavy bits of TQ in what small ways I may.

This sort of reflects a little of what I felt about Nawat in his short story. He seemed to have lost all the silly, funny quirkiness he had in TQ. I liked this little glimpse at human!Nawat and the things they both had to sacrifice with their new chapter in life. It had all the tenderness and lyricism I found lacking in the short story.
