Title: Like Me Rating: G Word Count: 174 Pairing: Neal/Owen Fight: 1/E Summary: Neal respects himself far too much.
Neal and Owen were walking through the palace grounds when they saw the pages practicing their staff fighting. “Ah, the good old days,” Neal said with heavy sarcasm.
Owen chuckled and elbowed Neal good-naturedly in the chest. “I think you would be hard pressed to find a knight who actually misses page years.
“Not if they had the Stump as their training master. He was always a beast.”
“But the best,” Owen reminded him.
Neal shrugged, refusing to defer any respect to the tough old man.
“Kel always wanted to be like him.”
Neal sniffed. “I don’t understand why no one ever wanted to be like me. I have far more humor and good looks than Wyldon any day.”
Owen smiled and elbowed him once more, but Neal only continued, “I wouldn’t be surprised if you wanted to be like me. You always did admire my time with the ladies.”
Owen forced a laugh. This would be the worst time to admit that he did, more much of his life, want to be like Neal.
