Summary: There is a certain disconnect between Raoul’s will, and his body. Warning: Some sexual content, but no sex as such.
Among the pages and squires, Gary was the most even match for Raoul. Alan and Alex could beat them with a sword, and Jon was an exceptional archer, but Gary and Raoul had the advantage when it came to wrestling. They were easily the biggest of the bunch and of similar skill. Though Duke Gareth tried to pair up opponents with as much variety as possible, Gary and Raoul often seemed to end up together. Sometimes everyone would pair off and the room would be full of fighting duos, and sometimes the morning would be set up as a mini tournament, with the boys ordered to observe and learn from their classmates’ matches. Unsurprisingly, Gary and Raoul ended up in the final match together. They grinned menacingly at each other while the boys picked a side to cheer for and traded wagers behind Duke Gareth’s back.
They collided like two bears, heads together; arms wrapped around shoulders and elbows, driving each other to the floor. They circled, then came briefly apart. Raoul bent and put his left arm around Gary’s right shoulder, and his other arm between Gary’s thighs. He lifted Gary and dropped to his knees, bringing Gary to the floor with him. Gary struggled, wrapped both of his knees around one of Raoul’s legs and squeezed, pulling him down and under, giving Gary the chance to flip and pin him. Raoul quickly rotated away from Gary’s arms, and they rolled over and over, until Gary got Raoul in a headlock and bore down on him. It was at that moment that they froze. They had noticed at the same time, Raoul perhaps a second before Gary, that Raoul was poking Gary in the abdomen, which was, at that moment, crushed into Raoul’s pelvis. Raoul went furiously red and Gary made to spring away, but the panic and mortified horror in Raoul’s eyes stopped him. While they were wrestling, he was aware only of Raoul’s body and his own, but now he remembered the watching classmates, who were cheering and jeering on the sidelines.
“Get him, Gary! What are you waiting for?”
“Raoul! Now’s your chance – flip him, he’s distracted!”
“What are they doing? Why have they stopped?”
Gary looked at them, then down to Raoul’s pleading eyes. If he got up, everyone would see Raoul’s erection. He couldn’t humiliate him like that. He whispered, “Do you think you can, err, recover?”
“Just give me a minute,” Raoul shut his eyes and gritted his teeth, trying to forget about Gary’s body pressing down on his. Cabbagesoupcabbagesoupcabbagesoupcabbagesoupcabbagesoup. It wasn’t working. Gary was forced to maintain the image of the match and the weight and heat of him were overwhelming. Deaddogdeaddogdeaddogdeaddogdeaddogdeaddogdeaddogdeaddog. He couldn’t turn himself off. No matter what unappealing images he brought to mind, his body was a separate entity, rebelling against him.
“Raoul?”
“I…I can’t.” He couldn’t meet Gary’s eyes. Gary glanced up at their audience then muttered,
“I’ll distract them. You can escape when no one’s looking. I’ll tell father you were injured.”
“Distract them how?” Gary pondered this for a moment, then called loudly,
“Alan’s as ugly as a rat and he cheats at fencing!” There was a moment of silence as everyone stared at Gary, nonplussed by his outburst. Then the colour rose in Alan’s face.
“What did you say, Naxen?”
“You heard me, rat-face.” Gary didn’t listen to Alan’s incensed retort, but whispered to Raoul, “At the first chance, run.”
“Thank you,” Raoul said gratefully.
“Just go.” Gary sprang up and advanced toward Alan. All eyes followed him, and Raoul hastily sat up, then ran for it as Alan gave Gary a hard shove. Raoul didn’t stop running until he had reached his bedroom door and slammed it behind him. He collapsed onto a chair and put his head in his hands. How could he ever face Gary again?
