Title: Blame
Rating: PG
Word Count: 256
Pairing: Gary/Raoul – Team Moustache Curtains
Round/Fight: 2/C
Summary: You took your suitcase, I took the blame. Jon confronts Gary, but Raoul’s away from Corus. Breakeven part 22, set post-Lioness Rampant.
Before Gary has finished gathering up his stacks of papers for the daily Council meeting, his door bangs open and Jon strides in.
“Whatever happened to knocking?” Gary asks, but there isn’t any laughter or smile from his cousin, and slowly Gary sets the pile in his arms on his desk before he turns.
“What?” he asks, and Jon folds his arms. Gary knows the look on his face; its his regal look that he hides his true emotions behind.
“Gary, what’s been going on?” Jon asks, and then it hits him. This is all about the argument between him and Raoul, isn’t it?
The look on Jon’s face after Gary asks tells him that he’s hit the nail on the head exactly.
“You need to take a break,” Jon tells him, as if there were infinite hours in the day, and Gary loses it.
“—And we’re working day in and day out just to keep our heads above water, and you’re not in the least bit concerned about the leader of your army being drunker than the lowest pickpocket in the Dove?!”
Gary knows that Jon wants nothing more than to yell or to order him to do something, and he dares his cousin to try.
When he’s alone again, Gary slams his fist into the wall, cursing Raoul and cursing the Own, which is still conveniently out on tour. It’s just like Raoul to walk away and leave him with all of the blame, all of the hurt, and all of the broken.
