Title: Talk
Rating: PG
Word Count: 260
Pairing: Gary/Raoul – Team Moustache Curtains
Round/Fight: 2/C
Summary: Raoul wonders why Gary's so upset.
Author's Note: The fourth of my series inspired by/based on the song "If You Were Gay," from Avenue Q. Each one will start with quotes, though the first few are actually dialog rather than lyrics.

NICKY
Oh, I didn't mean anything by it, Rod. I just think it's something we should be able to talk about.
ROD
I don't want to talk about it, Nicky! This conversation is over!!!
NICKY
Yeah, but...
ROD
OVER!!!
Raoul had wanted to shock Gary. He'd wanted his attention. That was why he had told him about Francis' offer to become lovers. Then, when he had noticed his friend's reaction, an intriguing mixture of curiosity, disgust, and panic, of course he had to push farther. He had to see if it was the subject matter, the preference for men—which, granted, was not something one talked about in the open—which so thoroughly upset Gary. So he had provoked him. And it had worked, though truth be told, perhaps too well, because he probably should have thought through raising his sarcastic friend's ire, given they had both been seated in the upper branches of an apple tree at the time.
The big squire winced, seeing Gary fall again in his mind's eye. It wasn't all that far, really, but it looked painful, and as a result he was now seated in the healer's ward, waiting patiently for Duke Baird to pronounce his companion ready to leave. He looked over at Gary, who was sprawled on a cot, studiously avoiding his gaze.
“It—it wasn't an accusation,” Raoul ventured. “I just think—well, it's strange when you won't talk with me. We should be able to talk about anything.”
“No. I refuse to discuss this further.” The squire was white with pain and fury. “We will never bring this up again, understood?”
“I don't think that's healthy—”
“Never.” Gary turned away from him as Baird returned, and Raoul was left to ponder why his friend was so discomfited.
