Title: Playing House Rating: G Wordcount: 116 Pairing: Team Temptation Round: 3/A Summary: Tortall’s history goes differently.
-
They sing songs about their knight-queen Keladry, tall and strong, the sword to her husband’s shield. Highway balladeers write about their king’s all-consuming love for their queen, how they make each other beautiful. They praise her for being the voice of the common folk, for being the kind of women their daughters should be.
The queen is younger, Jonathan’s second love after the untimely death of his wife. She gives birth to heirs, blue-eyed girls and hazel-eyed boys with dark hair and delicate noses; progeny to rule the land after both king and queen are deceased.
Jonathan holds the Dominion Jewel and Keladry holds sword and glaive. Tortall prospers, and memories of famine and unrest fade.

I used to be Kel of King’s Reach. Then I decided hopeless was more accurate.
