Title: Flipped Rating: PG Word Count: 214 words Pairing: Raoul/Sabine Round/Fight: 1/G Summary: This time, Raoul's the one who lived centuries ago. For Jess.
"Macayhill!"
Sabine glanced up from her book at the shout, to find two Riders trainees bearing down on her.
"How can you read on a day like this?" Beka asked, flopping down onto the grass next to her friend.
"It's easier when you have homework to do," Sabine replied dryly. "I'm reading about knights in the third century."
"History is overrated," Beka said dismissively.
Ersken let out a half-laugh. "Don't listen to her," he instructed Sabine, choosing to sit closer to the female page than his fellow trainee. "Rosto - er, a friend of hers told her a few things about her ancestry."
"Shut it, Westover," Beka said darkly. "What were the knights like?"
Sabine twirled a lock of hair around one of her fingers. "They called him the Giantkiller. Said he could move mountains with a stroke of his sword. He was a close personal friend of the king's."
"What was his name?"
"Raoul of Goldenlake," Sabine replied, unable to help a bit of a sigh. Catching the exchanged glance between the trainees, she demanded, "What?"
Their snickers brought a heated colour to her cheeks, and she was glad she hadn't voiced what she'd been thinking - that there simply weren't men like that around anymore.
But she couldn't help wishing there were.

Ahh! This is wonderful! I totally love the new reality - Beka and Ersken training to become Riders is so totally plausible. And I like how Beka's personality and Sabine's appear to have changed around a little, with Sabine being more quiet this time around.
Lovely! So sad that it took me so long to read!

Omg, can't believe I hadn't read this! It's fantastic, I love the idea of Beka and Ersken becoming Riders, and it's fascinating that you've made it Raoul who live centuries before.

This is great! Beka and Ersken as Riders = Awesomeness I loved this line: "she was glad she hadn't voiced what she'd been thinking - that there simply weren't men like that around anymore."
