Summary: Alanna has some ghosts she doesn't want to face.

"What? What is it?"

"Er, nothing. I just thought I saw--"

"Yes?"

"A...shadow, or something. Behind you."

They never speak of it again, and nobody else brings it up. But she can see when their eyes wander from her face to rest at a point just beyond her right shoulder. Each time, a chill walks down her spine.

She is afraid to be alone.

Wow--what a way to reveal a haunting presence. It's so interesting that you do the first part entirely in dialogue. And I found this line really interesting: "she can see when their eyes wander from her face to rest at a point just beyond her right shoulder."
