Title: Steel and Oranges Rating: PG Length: 131 Competitor: Alanna Round/Fight: 1/H Summary: ...I can't believe I just wrote Kel/Alanna. I'm sure this will come back to haunt me.
“I never thanked you,” Kel remarked, “For all the gifts. For everything you gave me during training.”
“Yes you did.”
“Well, I never thanked you enough.”
“Please don’t,” Alanna said, kind and tart, “I don’t do well with excessive praise. I start to blush, and that never does well on a redhead.”
“You would never!” Kel blurted. “I mean, I think that you blush. I just mean, I think that it could never not do well on you.” She bit her lip. “I’m sorry. I’m babbling. And not making very much sense.”
A slow smile spread across Alanna’s face. “You know, there was one gift I never had the chance to give you.”
“Oh?”
“This. Only this.”
And then she kissed her. Alanna tasted like steel and oranges, tart and kind.

Oh, this is really great! Kind and tart, that's so Alanna! Would you consider writing some more? I'd love to see how Kel reacts to this!
