Title: Irrefutable I Rating: G Length: 212 Competitor: Rikash Round/Fight: 1/B Summary: Rikash and Keladry cross swords and other sharp edges.
In everyone else’s presence she acts as she should; Yamani calm and twice as bland, keeping her distaste out of her face and voice and body while she wonders how Daine and Numair managed to name their son after something so repellent, how she manages to assume that with a name like Rikash Moonsword he couldn’t be anything other than a mage during those halcyon days of her page training, when the world was so filled with promise and she’d absorbed it into her memory under her list of the heroic dead.
He sees it, though.
She can tell, from the way his eyes follow her – made coppery rose by his rise back to immortality – the twitch at the corner of his mouth when they converse, the condescension that sets her teeth on edge, and she is aware of some kind of struggle between them: he wants her to break her control, appear less than chivalrous.
She would rather die.
Of course, in all her efforts of diplomacy, she forgets palace gossip, doesn’t consider her exploits could have reached his ears, so she slips, the day he lands on the peak of her roof and says ‘A little bird told me you shoot at stormwings.’
This is what she tells herself, anyway.

Ooooh. I see there are three parts to this - and this is certainly a lovely introduction. I'm very eager to read the rest!
