Title: Gossip Gurrrl
Rating: PG-13
Length: 287
Competitor: Faleron
Round/Fight: 2/A
Summary: And the moral of the story is: don’t believe the hype.
…
Neal and Merric knock and then don’t bother waiting for a reply, walking into his rooms with a ‘You wouldn’t believe what we’ve just heard,’
And he folds his arms, slouches against the frame of his bedroom door, clad in breeches but bare-chested, his hair standing on pillow tossed end.
‘Try me.’
‘Well,’ Neal begins. ‘Adalia told Uline told Shinko told Haname told Zahir told Seaver told us that Paxton of Nond saw you and Keladry talking in the Fat Lady’s Arms on Thursday night.’
‘So Zahir and Haname are back on speaking terms?’
Neal’s glare changes to a look of thoughtfulness. ‘Okay, maybe Uline told Haname told –’
‘That’s not the point!’ Merric interjects, his eyes inquisitively bright.
‘Keladry and I have been known to talk,’
‘Not talk talk,’ says Neal, frustrated, and Merric nods his agreement.
‘Talking,’ nodding for emphasis. ‘As in talking.’
‘Thank you for that clarification,’ says Faleron in a falsely-bright voice.
‘Semantics aside,’ says Neal, his voice riding over Merrics angry stutterings, ‘Is it true?’
‘Do you know who you two remind me of? Those chaperones who always pretend to be soo well bred while really they’re seething with – ’
‘FALERON!’ the two knights shout in unison.
‘None of it is true,’ comes a familiar voice from beyond Faleron’s shoulders, and there is Keladry, in one of Faleron’s nightshirts, walking up to stand beside him. ‘Because we were at Mindelan House that entire night – my father’s fiftieth.’
‘I’d like to add that Haname and I are on speaking terms, though it’s really no concern of yours.’ Olive-skinned arms come up around Kel and Faleron’s shoulders, and then Zahir’s face (smirking) is between their own.
Faleron turns back to the gobsmacked pair.
‘Satisfied?’
