Title: Friendly Fire Rating: PG-13 Length: 225 Character: Wyldon Summary: Sometimes you should see a healer before anyone has time to ask questions.
“Nice sunrise, my lord.” Owen grinned at his father-in-law, taking in all the colors around Wyldon’s left eye. “You might want to see a healer before Margarry gets here for brunch, if you don’t want her disapproving of whatever brawl you got into.”
“I don’t brawl,” Wyldon said through clenched teeth. He’d had every intention of seeing the palace healers when he woke this morning, but had been distracted and lost track of time.
“Of course not, sir,” Owen replied, picking a slice of toasted bread off of the tray on Wyldon’s desk. “You fell down, did you?”
He was going to snap a reply, but Keladry entered the office, a jar in one hand. “This bruise balm should help,” she said. “I’m so sorry I –”
Wyldon stood quickly. “Ah, Lady Knight, I was just about to tell Jesslaw that I didn’t need to see a healer because you had offered your own help.”
Owen shrewdly looked back and forth at the two of them, trying to put things together. “You were sparring with Kel?” he asked finally. “She doesn’t look any worse for the wear.”
Wyldon looked at Keladry meaningfully. “Yes, indeed, she bested me this time around.” He did not want Owen to figure out that this was an injury from the night before, when she had accidentally elbowed him during sex.
