Title: Alanna had a wise black cat
Rating (and Warnings): G
Fairytale/Nursery Rhyme adapted: Mary had a little lamb
Word Count: 408
Summary: The adventures of Alanna and her wise black cat
Notes: Apologies for the crappy rhyming and off-beat rhythm.
---
Alanna had a wise black cat, wise black cat, wise black cat,
Alanna had a wise black cat, with violet eyes like hers;
And everywhere that Alanna went, Alanna went, Alanna went,
And everywhere that Alanna went, his shadow follows hers.
He followed her to class one morn’, class one morn’, class one morn’,
He followed her to class one morn’, and he caused quite a fuss;
It made the Priests frown and moan, frown and moan, frown and moan,
It made the Priests frown and moan, to see a cat in class.
And so the Priests sent it out, sent it out, sent it out,
And so the Priests sent it out, but he still wore a grin;
And waited patiently about, patiently about, patiently about,
And waited patiently about, till he snuck back in.
Upon Alanna’s shoulder he alights, he alights, he alights,
Upon Alanna’s shoulder he alights, no one else would do;
Maybe he’s afraid of heights, afraid of heights, afraid of heights,
Maybe he’s afraid of heights, Gary suggests it’s true;
That charming Duke he did not like, did not like, did not like,
That charming Duke he did not like, he told Alanna thus;
Dogs don’t suit him Alanna lied, Alanna lied, Alanna lied
Dogs don’t suit him Alanna lied, for the silly cat’s hiss.
Alanna often heard him speak, heard him speak, heard him speak,
Alanna often heard him speak, to give a tart reply;
No one else could hear him speak, hear him speak, hear him speak, hear him speak,
No one else could hear him speak, or so they would deny.
Where is Faithful when I needed him, I needed him, I needed him,
Where is Faithful when I needed him, when George stole a kiss;
I’m not here as your chaperone, chaperone, chaperone,
I’m not here as your chaperone, the silly cat just purrs.
At Fort Drell he was spelled asleep, spelled asleep, spelled asleep,
At Fort Drell he was spelled asleep, so they stole Alanna;
He only woke to hiss and leap, hiss and leap, hiss and leap,
He only woke to hiss and leap, ‘till they rescued Alanna.
The wise black cat came from the stars, from the stars, from the stars,
The wise black cat came from the stars, and he's Alanna’s helper;
He helped her fight and win her wars, win her wars, win her wars,
He helped her fight and win her wars, ‘till time came to leave her.
