Title: Salesman (IV) Rating: G Length: 201 words Competitor: Owen Round/Fight: Final Summary: Kel is plagued by a salesman.
-----
“There,” Owen said, straightening and brushing his hands off in an accomplished sort of way. “Your oven is all hooked up and waiting for your first home-cooked meal.”
“Mmm,” Keladry said, pleased.
She was already considering the possibilities—with her new refrigerator, which he had sold to her with as big a discount as the stove (somehow she felt like a sixty-five discount was a little excessive and too good to be true, but he insisted...), she could go grocery shopping and buy delicious meats and frozen foods and butter and milk...
“What do you think it’ll be?” he asked.
“Tonight, I’m thinking cheeseburgers. Just because it’s classic.”
He nodded vigorously. “They are.”
For a moment, inanely, it was on the tip of her tongue to invite him to stay for that home-cooked meal. Kel fought the desire, and said politely,
“Well, Owen, thank you very much for your help. I appreciate it.”
“No problem,” he said. There was a fraction of hesitation for a moment, and an almost hopeful gleam in his eye, before he said, “I should be off. Just call the store if you have any problems. Have a good evening, ma’am.”
“You, too, Owen.”

Such a dissatisfying ending I like that the first thing she wants to cook are cheeseburgers.

I like that it's cheeseburgers. And I like the realism of modern!Kel NOT inviting the salesman for dinner (even though it would've been cuter if she did)
